| Deco Django is David Williams on lead guitar and vocals and Jerry Rudy on rhythm guitar. A former student of the great swing mandolinist Jethro Burns, David is the most experienced and proficient gypsy style guitarist in the area. He has been both inspiration and mentor to many other players in Boulder county. New members include Bill Pontarelli, the greatest clarinet player in the West, and John Klein on bass. Dan Ault often joins in on mandolin and violin. Deco Django can be heard every Sunday at Chautauqua from 11:00-1:00 and 5:30-7:30. www.trapdoor-media.com |

"This work was inspired by a photograph of Django taken in Paris in 1945 sitting alongside Gerard
Leveque during one of the orchestration sessions. Here was a man that in ten years had become the
most famous jazz musician in Europe, written a large body of work, invented a whole style of music,
survived an ugly war and laid claim to being the greatest jazz guitarist of all time. I wanted to show
Django at the height of his powers. Focused, proud, the indisputable master, a true visionary. For his
guitar I used several photographic cuttings from the original 1936 "Django Reinhardt" model
Macafferrie guitar no 503. This model had the inscription "Modele Django Reinhardt" on the central
part of the headstock of the guitar."...........Carolyn Ridsdale.
